A Chef of Modern Traditions

Growing up with gardens and being raised in the kitchen with his Italian grandmother, Jason Elder encountered his passion for food quite honestly. Learning, preserving, and elevating the time-honored technique of exquisite food preparation has become his life work.

Fascinated by wine country, the farm-to-table movement, and local, sustainable, and seasonal ingredients, Jason has found his new home at The Blue Goat in the heart of the Willamette Valley Wine Country.

Trained in culinary arts at the Art Institute of Houston, Jason worked his way up through line cook positions in Seattle, mastered the challenges of hand-made pasta production, then learned the art of wood-fired cookery in Napa at Michelin-recommended Azzurro, before leading the kitchen at Mr. G's in Newport Beach. He moved back to Oregon with his wife and their two children, where they have always been dreaming of raising their family with gardens, green, and grandparents.

Jason describes his culinary style this way:

"Heavily influenced by Italian, French, and American Cuisine; based on modern traditions"
